| I think you're exactly correct John. There has to be very low level control of the port. The trick, I suspect, is that the control may not lie within the Palm SDK (which I suspect fully supports only IrDA), but rather with machine coding of the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

| Something doesn't make sense to me here ..... IF someone sells a piece of software which allows the Palm to learn and speak "arbitrary remotese", then there has to be low level software control over the port. | The short answer is it doesn't really matter.....'cause none of the Palm or Handspring units really work directly with the RCX. If there is a Holy Grail to this robotics/Palm group, it would be the successful programming of the Palm IrDA port to (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.palm, lugnet.robotics)

| everyone knows that radio shack is giving away cue cats free, don't they? The cue cat is an optical reader used for reading barcodes. | I think I got mine in the USA for $179.98 (or was it 169.98 or 159.98???) at www.ebworld.com. This is the website for electronics boutique.
