    1999 Technic Car —Cwikla, Brian
Looks like there will be some great parts in this upcoming Technic set: (URL) I might build it and not want to take it apart for parts for the RCX!!! ~Brian (26 years ago, 10-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: 1999 Technic Car —Mark Koesel
The US release date is unknown. I'm sure the release date will appear in the US in-box Technic Lego Direct brochure. As soon as someone gets one of the larger 99 Technic sets (which have not yet shown up in stores), we should see this brochure, and (...) (26 years ago, 10-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: 1999 Technic Car —Mark Koesel
I got the picture from Michael Edwards. He posted a message to RTL saying he had it, and offering to send it to anyone who wanted it. The set number is 8448.       (...) You may be right about those funny side plates, (the curved ones with longitudinal holes) but the rest of it seems like standard moderen technic, Those smooth bent beams appear in most of the sets now, and the use of various flexible pipes to (...)          Re: 1999 Technic Car —Tim Rueger
(...) At least they re-used the same panel for each pair of panels in each quadrant of the car. (Huh?) I think the two small panels in the front are the same, just rotated w.r.t. each other. The same goes for the two large panels in the back. Of (...) (26 years ago, 11-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Tim Rueger wrote in message ... (...) Hmm. I'm not happy about the arrival of Technic CRAPPs that this seems to show.          Re: 1999 Technic Car —Larry Andersen
(...) I'd put a vote in for the 8868 turntable jucntion as the most complex Lego model section I've run into. Even the second or third time around I need to fix mistakes in it's construction.          Re: 1999 Technic Car —David Forrest
When I think of a "Super Car" I picture something like: (URL) think Lego should try to make a more detailed/complex car. The new super car look incomplete, and so did the old super car. Dave. (...) (26 years ago, 11-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: 1999 Technic Car —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Well, have you tried to make a car as detailed as Jonathan Stephenson's some time? I have, and let me tell you that the weight and shear number of pieces needed is unbelievable.       (...) Of course, but you're not the regular LEGO customer! ;-) (...) I agree. It is the nature of Technic models to be "incomplete", i.e. not have a body that covers the whole car.     Yet another type of wheels. Great. For wheel collectors among us. Otherwise looks cool. I don't think the plating is that 'special purpose'. Eric (26 years ago, 14-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)
