They need to grab some mimimum $$$ per purchase to even make
it worthwhile answering the phone. I suspect that figure is in the area
of $20. So selling individual pieces between $1 - $4 just doesn't do it.
There are obviously people who order multiple items at a time, but
calling up for one airtank isn't going to keep the spare parts end of
the business in business!

The problem wouldn't be so bad if I had to buy $20 worth of Air Tanks. Hell,
I'd buy 5 sets tomorrow.

The problem is that they 'salt' the kits with parts that you'll ever only
need one or two of. Take the Hand Air pump. How many of them are you going
to need?

TLC is obviously cutting back on the number of BAGS that they have in stock
and avail. That single Large piston there won't be around much longer. Same
with most of the small bags you see there. It's all going the way of large
packs with tons of stuff in them for a costly price. We adults have
complained for years that Lego doesn't acknowledge us. I think that has now
changed. They DO see us and have figured out that the packs are good ways to
scoop our dosh. Since we'd be the only ones desperate enough for a single
part in the large kit to buy 5 of... Even at the high prices.

The classic answer is to have intermediaries who buy "in bulk"
who can survive in business selling ones and twos of things. You see
them on ebay and you know how much parts cost that way! The real
key to being successful in the parts business is knowing what kinds
of parts are commonly called for. And that requires experience at
using the parts!

I'd buy in bulk, but at the current packs who's going to buy 100 of them and
then be stuck with 80 air pumps with no other items to go with it? As it is
now I don't think anyone could make a go of 'intermediary selling' at this
point. Unless LEGO gets smart with the BULK stuff they will find it will not
sell well...

The current bulk stuff. 25 trees. That's ok. 5 doors???? only 10 large
windows??? That's terrible.
If they had 100 of all listed items we'd be much better off. If you or I
can't afford 100 windows then we can just go to 'Joe Bob's Lego Sales' page
and pick up 10 from him. Or like you suggested with Lugnet.
