  Re: External supply for RCX

(...) The only issue with the standard rechargeable ones is if the motor(s) short the resulting current drain could damage something. I'm sure we've all shorted a rechargeable and had the rubber wire casings melt off from the 'heated exchange'.. (...) (25 years ago, 5-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: RCX IR-Tower and Vision Command

This has been noticed before. I would guess that it is the result of an engineering change on the PC board, well after the molds for the tower plastic parts had been machined. They (TLG) probably tried it out, found it worked anyway, and didn't (...) (25 years ago, 4-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Limited slip differential

(...) How about this for a thought - I remember reading somewhere about using the differential to keep a tracked vehicle on a straight path using one rotation sensor: (URL) using another differential in this capacity, it should be possible to detect (...)   Re: Limited slip differential

(...) Nice :-) (...) Time for the pedant to strike again - I think you are right in saying that this part serves a similar purpose to a synchro in a real car, but the real one gradually sychronises the speeds of the axle and the "idler" gear so that (...) (...) quite a (...) compared (...) I regularely run my RCXs on NiMH Sanyo rechargable batteries and they works very well. Voltage is lower, but they're much more current capable then the alkaline technology ones. Ciao Mario (25 years ago, 4-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Vision Command

the color sensing software works great recognizing greens, blues & reds. It has a hard time recognizing black. which kind of hinders my project of making a self recognizing robot. (it has a hard time recognizing the lens section) lighting - (...) (25 years ago, 3-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Limited slip differential

Now I see it. I found the gear you were talking about on the Technica site. This if very serendipitous, as I have recently been pondering how to make a locking diff with Lego. Thanks for the intel! - Greg Simon Bogaert wrote: <snip> (...) (25 years ago, 2-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RCX Sound Volume

I built a 'communications trailer'. A truck moves it into position and stops. A mast with an antenna on the end erects. A 'satelite uplink' is establishe (plays a tune). The mast returns to the park position and the truck hauls it off. Great demo. (...) (25 years ago, 2-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi, Here is a link on ebay for the exact item I was talking about: (URL) Original Message ----- From: "Simon Bogaert" <lego-robotics@crynwr.com> To: <lugnet.robotics@lugnet.com> Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2000 6:12 PM Subject: Re: IR to FM (...) (...) (25 years ago, 2-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RCX IR-Tower and Vision Command

Hello, Today I was some trying with the Vision Command. I knew camera's are able to see IR-light. When I point the camera at the IR-Tower I see some realy strange. The IR-LEDS aren't behind the "plastic lens" . Where is that lens for? With kind (...) (25 years ago, 2-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)
