Actually - placing a gyroscope inside two gimbals (structure which pivots in a
single plane) with a couple rotation sensors will provide the needed
information. It would use two inputs - perhaps a drawback.
Another alternative would be to mount the compass on the inner gimbal and just
allow the gyroscope to keep the compass level - no need to monitor the
gyroscope. This would not use ANY sensors.
The real challenge in this setup is finding a powered gyroscope in the
weight/power scope of the RCX - anyone have any sources?
Simon, have you looked at the Dinsmore analog compasses? They use only 5v. and
so fall in the RCX's volt range, although a bit high on their power requirements

| Hello everybody, I want to build a compass sensor. I already have an electric diagram for the sensor itself, but there are some problems. I have already studied the Light sensor diagram at Mr. Gasperi's website, but I don't quite how the sensor (...) (25 years ago, 31-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)
