(...) I use a 9VDC 500mA AC Adapter with center negative polarity. According to Jonathan Knudsen in his book The Unofficial Guide to LEGO Mindstorms Robots, he states "You can supply power in either polarity, even AC, from 9V to 12V." (25 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

A thought: The motor outputs have two 'off' states: free and brake. The free state is when the power lines are unconnected and the motor can spin freely. The brake state shorts the powerlines which causes the motor to resist being rotated. In (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)
