Re: Power Functions infra-red RC protocol released!

(...) This is great news indeed, thank you for posting. Has anyone tried the rc train remote on a power function reciver to see if it uses the single output pwm control signals? If not, hopefully the new RC train system will be compatible. It also (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jan-08, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) I don't have BrickOS, but I have been playing with the protocols in NBC. I got the twin-motor PWM mode to work in tests, and the original 'Combo direct'. But I can't get 'Single output' or either of the 'Single pin' modes to work. Have you had (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jan-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

Now you can use your RCX to control LEGO Power Functions. That's right the RCX can act as a PF remote control but it can do something that the PF remote can't do yet. The RCX can do PWM with your PF reciever moduals. You do not need to install (...)   Power Functions infra-red RC protocol released!

(2 URLs) The LEGO company just released a document detailing the complete protocol used by Power Functions RC receiver. I host the document on my (URL) Power Functions presentation page>.   Re: Want to Buy a RCX USB IR-Tower

(...) Just buy a USB to Serial adaptor and use your Serial Tower if you can't find a USB Tower for sale anywhere. They're not very expensive and work fine. Many new desktop PC's done have serial ports these days. Dom (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: Want to Buy a RCX USB IR-Tower

(...) If your IR tower still functions, and it's just a matter of not having a serial port, the simplest solution would be to just buy an adapter that will allow you to hook up a serial device to a USB port. I don't know if Radio Shack will deliver (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Creating cool MINDSTORMS NXT robots

Hi all. I put a preview of the Table of Contents of my book here (URL) release is planned for March 2008. Check it out! (17 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Want to Buy a RCX USB IR-Tower

Guys, Just retrieved my (dusted) RCX kit & a few spybots, when I move things around, unfortunately, my notebook does not have serial port any more. Moreover, the CD does not support XP either. Do you aware if any online shop will sell RCX USB (...) (17 years ago, 22-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Re: NXT apparently cannot detect two buttons pressed at once

(...) Actually, I've found that the orange button cannot be used independently, at least not from an NXT-G program. A simple program in NXT-G demonstrates the buttons supercede each other as follows: Right button (lowest priority) Left button Off (...) (17 years ago, 21-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.nxt, FTX)

Re: NXT apparently cannot detect two buttons pressed at once

(...) Confirmed. The arrows and grey button share a common resistor ladder and only one can be detected. But the orange "on" button has an independant circuitry and can be used separately. See keypad schematics in the HDK. Philo (17 years ago, 21-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.nxt, FTX)

NXT apparently cannot detect two buttons pressed at once

Can someone confirm that the front panel buttons on the NXT are wired in such a way that it does not work to press two of them at once? Not too surprising, I suppose, just as early computer keyboards were pre-decoded to signal which single key was (...) (17 years ago, 21-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.nxt, FTX)

pbLua News - Beta 13y is Released!

I am pleased to announce the release of pbLua Beta 13y - which is a replacement firmware for the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT that runs right on the brick. It parses source code files sent to it via the USB or Bluetooth ports and runs the code. (URL) Lua is (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

"Mark Riley" <markril@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:JuE4tI.t5@lugnet.com... (...) Your post could not have come at a better time. I found one of my RCX battery boxes full of corrosion the other day. White Vinegar and water does the trick. I (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jan-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: End effector that can "feel"

(...) I was comparing sensor reading to sensor reading and your point compares sensor reading to motor on/off condition, which is even better. I have never considered your idea of motor stall. That is probably because I am notorious for high gear (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jan-08, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Re: End effector that can "feel"

(...) Nice. And I agree, nice-looking. I once Bricklinked some of those same "rubber skirt" pieces for this, but never did get them in an effecter that I liked (I was trying smaller at the time). Now I use the flexible 1x2 studless beams that first (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jan-08, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  End effector that can "feel"

Hey everyone. I have built a realistic grasping end effecter that can feel when something in is its grasp (without touch sensors). I have attached a deconstructed version that I use. (URL) principle is pretty simple. As the end effecter closes and (...) (17 years ago, 18-Jan-08, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Re: LDraw NXT parts kit overhaul

Re: Self-brew flexible bricks and silent motor for Lego NXT

Once you've got the mold filled, you need to introduce vacuum, which will pull the bubbles right out of the material and dissipate them. Back when I was in the (...)
