Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

(...) What exactly do you mean by "Dead"? I've never seen any NXTs die. I've been told it's possible to reprogram the flash memory enough to wear it out, but that required someone writing a PC program that did nothing but reprogram the flash, and (...)   Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

I have 11 commercial (C) and 25 educational (E) NXT sets. The 11Cs are doing fine after about 4 battery changes. They have been in use since July 2006 for about 60 class hours. I'm sure there's a more empirical way to calculate how much run-time 4 (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Power Functions Element Pics (inc Plugs)

(...) Here are the pictures of the Power Functions elements from the Bulldozer 8275, including pictures of the plugs. (URL) (when modified). You can see it's a 4-wire system. There are basically 2 wires for power and 2 for control. I'll give more (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  NXC Counters

From the NXC Guide: ---...--- TachoCount: Return the internal position counter value for the specified output. BlockTachoCount: Return the block-relative position counter value for the specified port. RotationCount: Return the program-relative (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  Re: More IR Bulldozer pics

1). I am envious... 2). Can you post pictures of the underside of the connector, the battery box connector and the IR connector? I would much appreciate it, thanks.   Re: More Power Function MOC pics

(...) Well spotted Brian :-) The electric elements are those that will feature in the new Bulldozer. The rest of the MOC is parts from my own collection, NOT the rest of the Bulldozer! (that many beams with studs would be too much to hope for :-) ) (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  More IR Bulldozer pics

Here's a "rover robot" built, apparently, out of the new IR Bulldozer. August is much too far away. I like the look of those motors, not just for this but for GBC modules and other "simple" automation, and (if the IR system is compatiable) with the (...)   Re: Extending the firmware through DrawGraphic()

(...) Hmm, this is interesting. The capabilities that aren't used by the current firmware are very curious. I can see the purpose of multiple sprites and draw modes though. With that, you could do masked graphics. A mask sprite would be drawn first (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Extending the firmware through DrawGraphic()

(...) Thanks John. I find it a problem that NXTasy posts are not signed - I didn't know you were the author... Philo (19 years ago, 22-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Extending the firmware through DrawGraphic()

(...) Unfortunately, I made several factual errors in my post on NXTasy the other day. I have attempted to correct those errors today by editing the existing post. Please make sure you read it again if you read it yesterday or earlier this morning. (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Extending the firmware through DrawGraphic()

(...) Yikes - I had no idea it was that convoluted! I want to put on some new graphics functions but I think I'll devise my own file format for those. I'll see if it's possible to hijack DrawGraphic to test it at least, but supporting new opcodes (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Extending the firmware through DrawGraphic()

(...) These variables do get used by the existing RIC format. I could tell you what they mean but then I'd have to kill you. :-) It definitely is not a good idea to try to use them for something completely different. It seems better to just add a (...)   Re: spybotics header files

(...) The latest version of Bricxcc (3.3.7.16) should deliver these files to your computer as part of the install. Check the Spybot directory below the BricxCC directory. John Hansen (19 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

  Extending the firmware through DrawGraphic()

Having made an earlier suggestion about using file names to extend the capabilities, I've looked into it a little further and found something very useful. The 'NXTDrawPicture', or 'DrawGraphic' command can take an arbitrary array of variables. The (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  spybotics header files

I've been reading up on spybotics as I found some information in the NQC programming Guide and got curious (I bought a Gigamesh a couple of months ago, but never dreamt I'd be able to program it myself) Mention is made of a couple of header files in (...)   Re: motor disassembly

You gave me an idea there! I had look and found 2 people wanting to sell a znap set with a motor and asked them to tell me if the motor could be turned by hand and then continued to turn a little.
