(...) Andreas, IR struggles to keep contact in one room, so you need an RF wireless solution. It is possible to include a PDA with Bluetooth or WiFi support as part of your robot, and communicate between the PC and the PDA over the RF protocol, and (...) (...) I remember seeing one about 10 years ago, but I don't think it was very popular because of the speed and accracy. I have read the book "Core Lego Mindstorms Programming" and this book also discusses navigation. Since this is also my first project with the RCX I don't have much practical experience with navigation. I'm close to testing my dead reckoning system. (...) (...) You don't discuss how the robot (or PC) knows where it is. That's the hard part - there has yet to be anything remotely like a solution reported here. We've discussed placing landmarks (like marks on the ground, flashing lights, etc) around (...) (23 years ago, 20-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)
