(...) Well, an entire gazillion piece set *including* an RCX costs at most ~$200 from normal (ie non "educational") sources. (...) power socket? Probably the school will want that kind in preference to the 1.5 or 2.0 versions. I guess it depends on (...) (23 years ago, 18-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Assuming all you need is the brick and not the entire RIS, there are new v1.5 and v2.0 RCX bricks on BrickLink at: (URL) less than $90. You may also want to try the various LEGO stores listed in the side bar of: (URL) the 9709 v1.0 RCX which (...) (23 years ago, 18-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Our school has to replace two RCX's that 'walked' last year. Any better price around than $199 at Pitsco?? Thanks! (23 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Hello again, if you have difficulties making sense out of my previous posting, try viewing it with a fixed-width font. Otherwise all fomulas will ook scrambled. In the Web interface, "view raw message" is likely to work for that purpose, but of (...) (23 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Hello Tom, (...) Yes. You need a low impedance output driving 0..5V into the RCX, thus overriding its internal pullup. (...) Actually, I should have written "resolution" instead of "accuracy". The 10..15V range spans 5V with 256 steps, giving you a (...) (23 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I worked on a similar project about a year ago. I needed to put a small mark on the inside the a CD ring at a certain spot (or pretty near). I had to do this to 4000 CD's. I don't have access to the odd air cylinders, so I had to make do with other (...) (23 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Caution: the your external supply has one side connected to RCX ground, which is itself connected to sensor input connector right side. Whichever circuit you choose, you will have to make sure that sensor connector will not be reversed (the (...) (23 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)
