hi John, I think there's a small bug in BricxCC version 3.3.4.5 (and also in some previous versions). When you insert a template it's not possible to type directly into the "fields". Instead you've to move the cursor 1 line up and then go with F10 (...) (23 years ago, 21-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

If you haven't checked out Jin Sato's "Lego Mindstorms The Masters Technique", then I urge you to do so. Chapter 3 (pp. 19-50) are devoted to gears, gear ratios, and ways to make gear blocks. Considering that gear ratio is such a fundamental concept, it's disturbing that several authors of Mindstorms books have got it confused.
