Re: send message from ir-tower to rcx

(...) I don't think you can with only Spirit.OCX. I think you need the capability of the new SDK. Have you been able to send bytecodes using Spirit, or are you using another tool? --Ian (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Inertial guidance

(...) Actually, i think you could use TWO rotation sensors because the rotation sensors work in both directions, and Lego generally doesnt go up and down (but it might if you had some sort of maze with ramps). (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Precise turns of any angle! -- Rotation Sensor Information

(...) I ran my rotation sensor in an experiment at nominal motor speeds of 300 rpm and didn't lose a single count in over 10 minutes of testing. I believe the 1250 RPM figure...although you may be right about it being worse with the RIS 2.0 (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Inertial guidance

(...) The term "inertial guidance" refers to a navigational technique that involves carefully measuring the rotational and translational accelleration of the vehicle, then integrating that to derive the velocity and integrating *that* to get the (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: send message from ir-tower to rcx

My replacement for spirit.ocx does not yet support sending messages to the RCX, but it would only take 10 min to add it. (It is planned, but first I am working on cloning spirit.ocx). As for receiving, the IR tower shuts down to fast to reliably (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: New MindStorms SDK

(...) However, LIB made in this way does not work well. The /DEF option may make import library from .def file. (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: send message from ir-tower to rcx

(...) I have had no trouble sending "message()" messages to the RCX by simply sending the correct sequence of bytes directly to the COM port. Is there some reason you can't do this? JB (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Red Micromotors

hi rich (...) i encountered something similiar lately: when the micromotor gets stalled and you want to run it in the opposite direction, it is blocked. probably due to the force that stalled it. i then had to either remove the stalling situation (...)   RE: Precise turns of any angle! -- Rotation Sensor Information

Steve Baker has done some wonderful experiments on the accuracy of the rotation sensor which can be read at the URL at the end of this message. I have a alternative explanation for the inaccuracy in the rotation sensor when used with the standard (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Inertial guidance

(...) Uh, how do you mean? Inertia pretty much guides itself, unless you want to abolish Newton's First Law...? --Ian (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: send message from ir-tower to rcx

(...) Those would be the RCX "mailbox" messages...the ones that RCXs send to one another using SendPBMessage. Spirit.OCX can do lots of things, but it can't cause the IR tower to send messages to the RCX. --Ian (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: send message from ir-tower to rcx

(...) :) (...) Download the new Mindstorms SDK for the 2.0 firmware ((URL) It's really, really cool and it allows you to do all kinds of things that take advantage of the new firmware. (Interestingly enough, both of the following methods are (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Red Micromotors

The only problem I've had is the snap on mounts breaking. If you can't get one of the motors working I'll be happy take a set of mounts off your hands :-) "Richard Clemens" <lego-robotics@crynwr.com> wrote in message (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Precise turns of any angle!

(...) The trouble is that the rotation sensor drops counts when you run it at low speeds - especially if it's reversing direction frequently. You can read about my experiments that prove that fact here: (URL) told that you get much better results (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Yes, the puzzle is solved - legousbtower + nqc for linux.

Dear Juergen and Andy, I found the option to turn on data debugging on legousbtower this evening. It all turned out to be an issue between uhci and legousbtower. From the out_callback I could tell, it always sent 8 bytes no matter what tower_send (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Precise turns of any angle!

About a year ago I was inspired by discussions about how to get an RCX robot to make perfect 90 degree turns and also by an interest in traversing mazes and collision avoidance. I had an idea to navigate and turn using an approach similar to a (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: MacNQC can't open the #include file

(...) Hi John, I've just uploaded MacNQC 2.2.4 which fixes the #include problem. You need to have the include file in the same folder as the source file. Have Fun, Rob Bate (URL) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)
