Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

I had the same situation when I finished with my Blacksmith shop. I wonder where I went wrong. Hmmmm.... ~Adam (...) (23 years ago, 4-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

(...) I built this set between Superbowl commercials, and WOW, what a great set! I tend to be a somewhat inept builder, and what bothers me about many sets is how the instructions will have you put a plate here, a brick there, with no apparent (...) (23 years ago, 4-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

(...) I noticed one error in the instructions. In step 29, the right hand chimney's red and blue cylinders are swapped. I made a couple boo-boos and wound up with a black 1x3 plate when I needed a black 2x2 corner plate. This was quickly resolved (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

  6080 and 6074, modularity

As a kid I remember trawling through Lego booklets counting the different sets I REALLY wanted. There were always these big big castles that I wished I had, but I never actually got. I remember the Christmas when I simply couldn't decide if I wanted (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6080 King's Castle

IMHO 6080 is the better of the two sets. Here are my reasons. 6080 is built on a larger baseplate. The two plates in the back of the 6085 are 16x16 while those of 6080 are 16x24 I believe. The castles cover the same area but 6080 has more plate in (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6080 King's Castle

(...) no need to wish, just make it bigger, isn't that what makes lego's so much fun? (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6080 King's Castle

I'd agree that 6085 is more aesthetically attractive that 6080, but doesn't it bother anyone else that 6085 is essentially a remake of an old set? I mean, even the dungeons are in the same corner on both castles. You would have thought they could (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: In praise of the Red Beard Runner (6290)

In lugnet.loc.au, Richie Dulin writes in praise of RBRs and rightly so. Its a lemon of a ship, a sodden, gap jointed, high riding, under-gunned, badly strung tub, destined for Davey Jones' Locker on her first encounter with anything more (...)   In praise of the Red Beard Runner (6290)

Ahoy! I noticed TRU Chatswood still had a few of these left at the pre-Christmas price of $A109, and after umming and ahhing for a while I decided to purchase one. I knew its reputation as the worst of the large ships, its dinky battle damage (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates, lugnet.reviews)

(...) Good point Lar... BTW, this was the first train set I bought/aquired (kind of heretical) :) and it was the one set that finally brought me out of the darkage... Benjamin Medinets (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

It's a good contrast with the two other 4561 reviews we have: (URL) by Mark Herzburg and (URL) by Bradley Dale It is always fascinating to see how different folks like and dislike different things.   REVIEW: Railway Express 4561

I purchased my first LEGO train last night, the Railway Express 4561. It was definitely an impulse purchase; the trains that I really want (and will get) are the ones in the 2001 catalog, but when I saw the set on the shelves at Toys R Us (Times (...)   Revieuw 2002 German cataloque

Hi guys, The catalogue looks like the one in 2001. Disappeared from the collection are Pooh Bear, Scala, Mickey, Artic, the little racers and the special re-released models. The just last autumn launched Duplo emergency station (2811) has been (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Set # 3408, Space Parts Pack

Well technically it has something to do with soccer, but about 95% of the parts are great for spaceships. I scored one today at Target for $15 on clearance, and highly recommend it. Lots of blue and grey slopes, three of the old classic space (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.reviews)

  Re: [Review: Technic 8466 4x4]

(...) The 8466 suspension is still bouncy and pretty high riding over here. But mine's only been assembled for a week or two. The 8880 Supercar has exactly the opposite, it's my opinion the 8880 sits too high, and it has two shocks per wheel. Calum (23 years ago, 6-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.reviews)
