Re: Reviews wanted for #6090 Royal Knights Castle

(...) Here's a couple reviews: (URL) another quick opinion, from a castle freak: It's a good set. Not as good as some of the older castle sets, but bigger than most, with a good selection of parts, some of which are rare or unique to this set. (a (...) (25 years ago, 3-Sep-99, to lugnet.reviews)

Reviews wanted for #6090 Royal Knights Castle

I was completely out of the LEGO scene during the castle sets and am considering purchasing a 6090 Royal Knights Castle for my son for Christmas. I am curious as to others reviews of this set and if it would make a nice addition to our collection. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Sep-99, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) D'oh! Ah...that's okay. What I plan on doing is setting up an area that uses Pause's sectioning, and a "meta" review section to review reviewers and the site. Would some one be willing to send me a *text* template for a review? Since I won't (...) (25 years ago, 19-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) What's to negotiate? You have experience with FoM, you know Perl, and your connection is probably just as fast as directhosting claims theirs is. Even if I hosted the FoM, which I'd be happy to do, I'd want to give you admin access to it since (...) (25 years ago, 18-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.admin.general)

(...) till I die, too. Wanna negotiate? How about we both spend a little time and see which is better, contributing cool ideas to the one that gets picked? Ciao! (25 years ago, 18-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) Heck, who needs sleep? It's up, just to give people something to look at, I guess. I'm too tired to think about applying it to anything right now, but if there is a desire to use it for some Lego-related purpose and someone else can help (...)   Re: New review site going up...

(...) Yup, and like I said - my domain will have a hosting home for a long time. And unless I suddenly go bankrupt, it'll have a good home like it has now with full Perl usage, etc. Heck, even if I did go broke I could move it to a free place that (...)   Re: New review site going up...

(...) Not thinking of it; already offered it. (...) Why do you say it's a bad idea? Every section of the LUGNET website (not just /reviews/) can use a curator or a set of co-curators for content and links organization. (Currently, I'm curating all (...)   Re: New review site going up...

(...) I'm pushing Todd's hot button on purpose here a bit, but I suspect that even though it's GPL he might not host it because Todd has a bit of NIH, which is what I was referring to vis-a-vis cathedral vs. bazaar. I bet he'd link to it if you (...) (25 years ago, 18-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) Well, if it needs to be hosted elsewhere I can do that. I can also look into giving a single trustworthy person limited telnet access to my account to actually install and get it working. Or Todd can host it and I can just use it. :) (25 years ago, 18-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New review site going up...

Ya! I like this. Todd told me offline he's thinking of empowering someone to do some content organization in the /reviews/ part of LUGNET. Bad idea. This is somewhere where the bazaar method is presenting us a ready made answer, although it isn't (...) (25 years ago, 18-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) If this is something I could install or have installed on my domain (guarded-inn.com) and then let someone else have the responsibility for maintaining it, I wouldn't mind hosting it. Since this would all be text (or mostly) I can't see space (...) (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews)

(...) --snipped-- (...) that sounds like it has good potential...i'd just be concerned with how permanent such a site is, how much space we'd have, and how to protect contributors' ownership rights. have others dealt with faqomatic sites? ..joseph g (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) Hmmmmm......I Could do all that with just a faqomatic site. Then I could dish out access to people who showed promise. Or I could allow free access, and have moderators. Anyone have ideas? I could set up a working site in a day. A snazzy one (...) (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: New review site going up...

(...) I know that Larry's post is in response to Jeff Johnston's original post but I wanted to share my ideas on the matter. I'm quite bummed about the way things have gone at adequate.com.   4561 Railway Express newbie review

I built the 4561 train over the weekend and offer the following observations. I am a newbie to trains so please know that my comments are relative. 1.) The supply of windows is great. 2.) The amount of track-- relative to the length of the train-- (...) (25 years ago, 17-Aug-99, to lugnet.reviews)
