Re: A sad day for BIP?

It might be worth getting in touch With No Starch to get them to alter the link on their site (URL) put the book page back up again Tim (18 years ago, 7-Apr-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Experiment with a RSS feed

I am experimenting with creating a RSS feed with information about my LEGO web site. It is still very primitive, but please comment, so I can improve it: (URL) well, Jacob (18 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.publish)

Re: A sad day for BIP?

(...) It is time for me to propose an exam project for my students. Do you think 3-5 software engineering students might be able to design and implement a useful, stable BIP system in six weeks? (I think it might be possible.) I don't think we can (...) (18 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: A sad day for BIP?

(...) Yes, the data all still exists. The biggest problem with the site, actually is the "health" of the database. It's ugly beyond words. A big part of what needs to happen for the future of the site is the rebuilding of the database in a format (...) (18 years ago, 22-Feb-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: A sad day for BIP?

IF the raw data/database contents are available, it's possible using some web agent code I use to interface with Wiki systems. NOT SAYING I COULD DO IT. But there might be a way to generate a huge set of web update screen interactions to convert it (...) (18 years ago, 22-Feb-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: A sad day for BIP?

I'd really like to see the site to continue! I remember the first time you encouraged me to add my Build-a-Bot instructions and I was so happy! Thank you! (18 years ago, 22-Feb-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: A sad day for BIP?

(...) Anything's possible :) Actually, that's a pretty dang smart idea. See, when I first created the site, I didn't want to create a scenario where people were seeing their content show up on the site without their explicit permission. But the (...)   Re: A sad day for BIP?

Would it be possible to transfer the content to BrickWiki and not have to mess about with coding and maintaing a whole seperate site? (18 years ago, 17-Feb-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  A sad day for BIP?

All, After something like 5 years I'm sad to announce my intentions to shut down the Building Instructions Portal (www.bricksonthebrai...ructions). Years ago when i first created the site I was a code newbie (although some may argue that I'm STILL a (...) (18 years ago, 17-Feb-07, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.publish) !!

Re: FTX links (was: Request: 1/19 scale)

(...) For those links to work, you need to set the format to FTX before posting, using the combo list just below the subject. HTH ROSCO (18 years ago, 1-Feb-07, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic, lugnet.publish)

Re: The LEGO CD as a book, and other ramblings....

(...) I suggest you inquire at No Starch Press. They have published some AFOL books in recent years. Your CD as a book (even an abbreviated one) would make an awesome addition to their lineup and cross-selling among titles would be highly likely and (...)   Re: Email Lost Password

(...) Hi Kevin... is it too late to respond to this thread? ...What if I've lost my Brickshelf password AND changed my email address since I originally registered? -Hendo (18 years ago, 6-Dec-06, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Unlikely Society: Chapter 1

(...) Well, there's about as much humor and excitement as you can get into just 4 pages. I really like the special effects. They look top notch! David (18 years ago, 31-Oct-06, to lugnet.town, lugnet.publish)

Re: Eastern Block Web Site Contest!!! Win a 6980 Galaxy Commander!!!

(...) I'd sell my own mother for that prize! However... ...regardless of how you view yourself, I think you've done a fine job with the current site. What exactly do you find it to be lacking? What exactly do you think could be improved? (18 years ago, 27-Sep-06, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

Eastern Block Web Site Contest!!! Win a 6980 Galaxy Commander!!!

Comrades! The Eastern Block web site needs an overhaul! I did the best I can, but alas I am a coder, not a web designer. I know, shocking... So what to do? LEGO fans do seem to have a good bit of web talent, so why not have a contest to design the (...)   Re: Another RSS feed for you to not read. Oh boy.

Addendum: I had forgotten just how foul I was in my posts, back when I figured no one would ever read the, because like an idiot I don't read what I write after I put it up. You may want to skip this altogether if you have any objection of any kind (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.publish, FTX)

Another RSS feed for you to not read. Oh boy.

Having been annoyed by CSF peg-boy Kevin "Kevoh" Blocksidge's bland and derivative rhetoric one time too many, Jonesy and I set up a new blog to replace Golden Shpleem. You can find it (URL) here>. We're looking at getting other colorful (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.announce, FTX)

Re: (was some dumb argument) is something else now...

That's ok, I had fun making it. It was also fun to just change the subject for once. (18 years ago, 3-Sep-06, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: (was some dumb argument) is something else now...

(...) Your Photoshop skills are certainly improving. The composition of that is quite good too. It seems to have a green tint to it though so I'd play with the colour levels a bit more. Also your posted pictures are too big. Try posting a shrunk (...) (18 years ago, 3-Sep-06, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)
