  Re: Picture size

(...) I go for 800x600 or smaller generally. Sometimes a large picture is worthwhile, but if you are including the pictures in-line in a website, you might want to have a smaller picture with a link to the big one. Cropping is one of the best ways (...) (22 years ago, 13-Nov-02, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Picture size

(...) I typically do 640x480 or smaller, with a fairly heavy jpeg compression (usually 30 to 50%) so my images fall in the 30-60K range. I prefer to keep them a little smaller and sacrifice a little bit of quality, then have them over 80K and chew (...) (22 years ago, 13-Nov-02, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Picture size

(...) I think you can show good detail with an image of 80 to 120 KB, but it depends on the picture. Some look better/worse than others. On my website, I limit my big, detailed pics to 120 KB max. That's just my preference. TJ p.s. I use dial-up :-( (...) (22 years ago, 13-Nov-02, to lugnet.publish)

What do you think is a good balace between file size (speed) and largest display (detail) of a jpeg photo on a website? Jude (22 years ago, 13-Nov-02, to lugnet.publish)

Re: All your Microscale Moonbase are belong to Us.

(...) Hey! WOW! Thanks, Bill! I didn't know you could do that! I'll try to do it from now on, though, with the most representative pic for a sneak peek. I appreciate the helpful hint, and may wander over toward .publish to browse for other good (...) (22 years ago, 2-Nov-02, to lugnet.publish)

Re: All your Microscale Moonbase are belong to Us.

(...) What he means is posting a link to the image on Brickshelf which can be viewed even before it is moderated. To do this, go to the page for the image (not the thumbnail/folder page) and right-click on the large image. Choose "Copy Image (...) Couldn't have said it better. Thanks Alan, Josh! Jeremy - who doesn't like being the turn-to for all marketplace questions. I am not really the creator, just the ringleader. :-) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.publish)

Re: Medieval Marketplace web site is online!!!

Excellent comments, Alan, I agree completely. I just wanted to add my two cents about one thing, for those who may not have followed this from the beginning. This project keeps getting compared to the Moonbase project, but there is a large number (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.publish)

Re: Medieval Marketplace web site is online!!!

As one of those who gave input to the "Standard", hopefully I can give some helpful comments. I think that as long as the outward "facings" of a large shop conform to the standard, whatever happens behind the facades is pretty much up to you. But (...)   Re: Advertise on Brickshelf

The jackass that handled the banner ads for Kevin has started to spam me. This doesn't surprise me given what I learned of him, but this is particularly irritating since he's using one of his obscene domain names and some obscene language. I'm about (...)   Re: Medieval Marketplace web site is online!!!

(...) Glad to see a common castle builders project finally got off the drawing board, and into action! The whole idea is great and all, but the modules seem a bit small compared to the moonbase project, but that's entirely different, I suppose. I (...) (...) Oh great, now I have to find time to build both Marketplace MOCs *and* Moonbase MOCs...
