Yes, just about everything should run better when
bypassing a proxy server, not just brickshelf.
Not that it should cause problems. I have
tested brickshelf with Squid and it works great.
I have not tested it with whatever appliances
the cable companies use, but they really seem
to honk things up. In this case, I suspect
there is some upload rate-limiting going on.
It's hard to imagine network congestion
so severe that a singe 140k image takes
forever.
