I use a camera that uses floppies (Sony Mavica FD-91), and I'm quite happy
with it!  Its resolution is only 1024x768, but that's already twice the
vertical and horizontal resolution that I really need for almost anything
web-related I've done so far.

All of the photos on these pages were taken with a floppy-based Mavica:

*shrug* Those are pretty nice, but there are definite apparent compression
artifacts.

Ya, it ain't perfect, but it's more than adequate for my needs (basically,
taking close-ups of LEGO and goofing around with the cat).  One of the other
main reasons we bought it (besides the floppy drive) was the 14x zoom and
macro capabilities.

It's 1-2 years old now so I'm sure the latest & greatest digital cameras are
better, but I expect to be happy with this one for at least another year.
If I ever get bummed out by the compression I'll just turn it off and use
640x480x24-bit uncompressed mode (1 image per disk).  Even 640x480 is more
than I need for most pictures I take.  :-)

And, if you happen to have a laptop, compact flash will "just work" with
PCMCIA.  (With a cheap passive adapter; came with the compact flash card I
bought.)

Those must download a lot faster than floppies!  Neat-o!

BTW: I recommend <http://www.megapixel.net/> as a very nice digital camera
review site.

Ahh, cool, one for the bookmarks.  Thanks.
