David, I think he meant that he has just spent the past 3 weeks reading all
past 9000+ postings to lugnet.robotics (that's about the right number).

Well, although the use of the comma in that position isn't correct for the
English language, it would be grammatically correct for the German language,
and if I'm not mistaken, it would even be wrong in German without the comma.
(Note that Stefan was posting from a .de (Deutschland=>Germany) address and
that not everyone here is a native English speaker.)

My feeling is that Stefan was targeting .robotics in particular because it
does have a much higher incidence of massive full-quoting -- due to the fact
that it is gatewayed with another mailing list where many people are replying
using email software rather than newsreaders...and it's more common in email
to do the "quick reply" at the top rather than the more methodical reply
interspersed with the message as is customary with news.
I suspect there are still folks out there who may be unaware that their
replies via email wind up in a real newsgroup, or perhaps they just don't
care to follow newsgroup replying conventions.

| (...) Hmm.. Just to nitpick the nitpicker.. "readed"? And why is this going to just lugnet.robotics? 9000+ postings in 3 weeks? I think there's only been maybe 1000 at most posts to robotics over the last 3 weeks, so I'm assuming either you're (...) (25 years ago, 3-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)
