I stopped at 2 Shell stations today. One station only had the little sets. There was a hand written sign that said $1.49, no mention of a mandatory purchase. The other station I stopped at had a huge display of all the sets. I think they were just (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.promo, lugnet.market.shopping)

I stopped in 2 stations in the South SF Bay area today, and they only had a few of the small sets, didn't even know they were going to be getting the larger sets. Looks like I'm going to have to canvas a LOT of stations. All I really want is about 4 (...) (24 years ago, 8-Nov-00, to lugnet.promo, lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

Unfortunately you won't get the discount with just any old Chase Visa card-- it has to be a Shell Chase Visa (so my TRU Chase Visa didn't cut it). : ( Plus, the (...) I found all these sets except for Belville today in Western Washington State. Different stations seem to have different sales policies. - At one station it was one and only one (Grrrr!) small set per fill up for $1.49 or $4.49 without the gas. The (...) The reason that they arent allowed to sell the larger sets yet would be this: they only have a limited supply of the larger sets and once thats gone they cant just call up lego or shell and get more AFAIK. (...) I think it has more to do with the fact that the set is a promo.As in Shell is using the sets to promote their gas stations. (...) Do a search for "shell" in the lugnet database: the 1998 ones (with set #s in the 2500 range) seem to cover the small ones. I *think* I saw a <set:2554> in the station I stopped at.
