It was mentioned in a thread recently that inspiration for building pirate stuff is not as common as other threads. But if we all share our favorite movies, books, songs(?), etc then perhaps we can help inspire someone else.

So list your 5 favorite pirate references.

Mine:

1. Treasure Island (1950) Movie
2. The Saints of the Sword by John Marco (2001) Book
3. Treasure Plant (2002) Movie
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) Movie
5. ?

Mine are pretty lacking, but then if I had inspiration coming out every which way, I probably wouldn’t have brought this topic up.

Disclaimer on 2 - There are a number of good ship on ship battles and ship on port battles, but this book takes place mainly on land.

Maritime Museums. I love museums generally, but particularly (...) (21 years ago, 15-Jul-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

Sorry, owing to my whirlwind posting spree I'm going to economize this: 1. "Nelson and his Captains", by Ludvic Kennedy -- just great entertainment (with history)! 2. Naval history in general -- from Athens to Japan, it all draws me back to the sea. (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jul-03, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)
