Ummmm, I dunno - it's been on the backburner. By that I mean I bought the
canvas but I haven't done anything yet. You should be able to mix some white
glue and water (one or two parts water to glue) and "paint" the edges of
material to stop the fraying. I'd recommend doing it before you make the cut
to the fabric (and if you are going to mark a cut line on the fabric, don't
use something that will lift off the fabric and mix with the glue). But
looking at the canvas, it looks like very thin and fine artist's canvas and
should be painted on one side with a ground, which might hold it together.
Since I'm not trying to be absolutely historical, I like decorated sails.
It's just more colorful. Don Maitz's Captain Morgan will definitely end up on
one sail. :-)
