For those who weren't at the last meeting... Lego is sponsoring Lizzie's
Antarctic trip. Yayyy!

<blink blink>  Cool!  Is it possible for more specifics to be divulged?  I
don't give 2 hoots about how much, but the whys and wherefors would be neat. :)

The trip is a student research trip (100 students from across Canada) to
the Antarctic this December/January (summer there!). Check
www.studentsonice.com for more info. Liz and anotehr girl from her
school were accepted onto teh trip and then we (2 families) had to start
raising about CN$20,000 for the two of them - the trip itself plus
airfare to Toronto to meet everyone else plus equipment. We got one
local complete sponsorship and a couple of smaller ones, and I wrote to
Brad J suggesting that it might be cool to get pics of the Arctic sets
"on location", as it were and would Lego like to sponsor her. The answer
was a resounding Yes, so Liz will be providing them with some Web
content and they are sponsoring her. It's very very cool!

ps - did you make it out to Clinton this year?  I meant to e-mail you before
we went, but it got missed, along with about 3 gazillion other "gotta do this
before Clinton" things...

Yes indeedy, Spencer (my SO) and I were there from Tuesday on for the
work week, and Liz came up and joined us on the Friday. If you were at
closing Court, Spencer was the one with the big black dog (Toby, who
does a Sit when you say "Hold", Baroness Amanda was very taken with
him... the dog, I mean, not Spencer :-)  ) who got a little token for
constabling. I was doing parking direction on Friday morning, and was
the guy in Elizabethan garb with the fiddle at the Bardic fire on Sat
night.
