Re: modding the new IR trains

I believe that there is a rather large battery box cavity in the interior of the engine above the base plate. Whats nice is that you get to this cavity via the bottom of the train thru the hanging tank. So you have the 6x8 "tank" below, the IR (...) Just putting in some high-capacity NiMH batteries would extend the life from one charge. But, building in a charging socket and circuit (...)   Re: modding the new IR trains

Hi Ondrew, I can make a comment on two related posts here. (...) As I see it 4) and 7) are related since for me they both solve the same problem which is this: seven-wide trains are pretty much ruined by the 6x30 baseplate. Basically it's very (...)   modding the new IR trains

Hey all, Well there has been quite a bit of talk about modifying the yet to be released IR trains so i figured it might be a good idea to consolidate them into one thread. Here’s a little rundown of what I remember as well as my X-ACTO knife (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: Modding plastic track to conducting track

(...) I think the solution is to find some source for C channel metal that is the correct size for the rails. What you would be doing is finding something that is physically similar to the current metal covering. It might be possible to make a (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.parts.mod)

Modding plastic track to conducting track

Hi all, I'm curious what you part modders think about modifying the new plastic train track to allow it to conduct electricity. My thought was that you could use metallic conducting tape on top of the plastic tracks and make yourself a good (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jan-06, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.trains)

I have been luke warm about the IR-controled battery-powered trains; however, it had occured to me that I could use this system to run a trolley on the same line as a train, but then I thought of something.
