(...) Great work Steve, and thanks for picking up the ball and running with it. Oops, was that an unintentional pun ;) I am already looking forward to working on a module or two for the this year's BrickFest event. If you have four modules which can (...) Well, I don't have a web page made up, yet, but over the holidays, several of us got together to set-up a Great Ball Contraption. The Great Ball Contraption is a take-off of SMART's Crate Contraption. With the GBC, balls are moved (instead of crates (...) (20 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Thanks David for organizing this meeting. It looks like I missed a lot of cool robots. Good job Mark on a excellent mini-challenge robot. From the photos I can see that there were several other cool robots that I wish I had more time to look at. (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

We had a small but wonderful meeting last weekend! Gus showed a wind-up clock that he's been working on. He gave an interesting presentation on how several escapement mechanisms work, and also some useful pointers on how to reduce friction in gear (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

This Saturday at 2pm is the next SMART meeting. We'll be at Digipen, as usual. The mini-challenge is block stacking along a line. See previous posts for details. I hope to see everyone there! -- David Schilling (20 years ago, 18-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

I noticed a new folder in the SMART Brickshelf today: have you tried using those flexible thin rubber pads used to open really tight jar lids? I use one of those, and it works great (and is cheap). Using two of them makes pulling small pins out of (...) (20 years ago, 18-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

(...) For the BrickHeap Wars competition there were strict rules about what and how the robots had to work. For our mini-challenges, we leave much of the interpretation up to you. Do what you can. Challenge yourself to build the best robot you can. (...) (20 years ago, 14-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

(...) Hi David This challenge sounds like fun. Some questions. Will the blocks be white? How many blocks will there be (approx.)? How long is the course? (to gauge speed to complete in 3 minutes) I read some of your previous notes and understand (...) (20 years ago, 14-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

It's hard to believe that the next SMART meeting is almost upon us! I've been so busy with the Crate Contraption at Robothon, and NWBrickCon that I haven't even thought about the next meeting until now, but it's only 10 days away! So if you haven't (...)
