At the June meeting, we need to really work on what we want to do for the
Library display.  Hopefully, we can get into the case and get some
measurements.

I agree that the July display should definitely (and obviously) be our • focus
of the next meeting.  Was there anything set up in the case when y'all • were
last there?  In addition to measurements - if the case is empty maybe we
could go ahead and clean it out so that when we come back to set up at the
end of the month we don't have to waste time on that.

Yes, there was a current display in the case.  I'm thinking that the setup
on June 30 will probably be an all day event.  We will need to plan the
layout prior to setting it up because there is not a lot of space in there
and only one access door.  We can measure the case from the outside to get
an idea of the total area.

I am planing on displaying a town scene with some of my town buildings • and
will be working this month to put something like that together so we can
look at it on June 2.  I would like to hear what others are planning. • Also,
we probably need to put together some signage (a Richlug sign - anyone • got
any ideas about a Richlug logo? - and also some informational signs about
the display itself - i.e. approx. number of pieces, minifigs, etc.).

I still want to display my zeppelins (6 or 7) by hanging them from the
ceiling.  I'll be sure to get some screw-hooks before for this purpose.

We'll have to check with the staff to see if they will allow the hooks (I
certainly hope so since your zepplins are so cool).  Plus they would help
fill up the available vertical space.

I also have an idea for a creation that I haven't started on that would
occupy the space of 2 large gray baseplates.  My basic idea is to start • with
a foundation of BURP's and build a tower like structure that would be a • sort
of evolutionary scale moving from "rocks" to castle-like structures to • town
buildings and capped off with futuristic space features. I can picture it • in
my mind - now I just have to start building it.

Also, I did manage to grab one of the cardboard display cases from Kaybee • at
VA Center Commons.  I think it could be used to add some height in the • case
but there's not a whole lot of room for setting things on top of it.  I'll
bring it to the meeting so we can kick around ideas how to use it. I'm • also
going back to see if I can grab the other one if they've finished selling
the adventurer sets that were displayed in that one.

Great.  Again, a good way to diaplay vertically.

I also had thought about the need for some signage identifying RichLUG. • If
nothing else just having a poster that gives some information about the
website and how interested folks can contact us would be good.  Even if we
don't have a logo by then we probably could at least spell out RichLUG • with
some bricks like I did before.  I recently got a big box of Duplo bricks
that could be used and would make something large and readable.

Those are some of the ideas I'm kicking around.

Greg

Agreed.  If nothing else, we can print out some basic information such as:
"Founded in January 2001, the Richmond Lego Users Group (RichLUG) is a group
of adults who share a creative interest in Lego bricks.  Meetings are held
on the last Saturday of every month 10:00am - 5:00pm here at the Tuckahoe
Library.  Please feel free to join us for our next meeting on July 28, 2001.
Please visit our website at http://communities.msn.com/RichLUGWebsite.
Another great online Lego community is at http://lugnet.com.  Finally, visit
the official Lego website at www.lego.com."
