Hi All,
Thought I'd strike up some conversation this fine day, as it's been rather
quiet of late.
First of all, congrats to Nicole and all of the Drumms on the baby.  I
hope little Ken becomes addicted just as we all have.
Second, Dave, great to hear that you are walking again.

We can forgive this little flub.  I am walking okay and I hope Dave is, too.

Third, Wayne, if you aren't out galavanting around on your real vacation,
I was saddened to hear that you have lost your job.  The job market around
the area is tight, but I hope you can stick around CNY.
So, with everything happening, dowe want to get together soon?  Alan D.
volunteered his church's basement in Cortland for the last meeting, maybe we
might want to look into this.  A central spot, at least more central than
Carousel Center, would be more condusive to more frequent meetings.  Also,
the quiet, private atmosphere would allow for the display of more MOCs.  So,
do we want to meet soon is what it all comes down to.  Discuss posible dates
and such...wait for it...wait for it...now.

I am up for a meeting.  My schedule is completely open.  Set up some dates and
I should be there.  Location-wise, Cortland will be fine with me.  My exact
coordinates are in Vernon Center (near Vernon Downs and a few miles from
Turning Stone Casino) so no matter where meetings are held I will be traveling
a bit to get there.  I also favor the idea of having meetings in different
places so that at least a few people won't have far to travel each time we
meet--different people each time, of course.  That said, Binghamton would not
be my first choice and Canandaigua would not be my second.
Syracuse/Cortland/Ithaca work out well for me.

I have not tracked local hobby train shows like I said I would do and some
have passed us by.  There may be another winter show at the State Fairgrounds
or we may have just missed it.  We should assemble a schedule of all of the
model train shows in the state so that we all have time to plan on visiting.
Also, if we ever get organized enough that we might want to participate in a
train show I am in favor of that.

Over the last few months I have been building some new models.  Primarily
minifig-scale Town vehicles (as if I need more) thanks to purchases of key
pieces from BrickLink.  Also, since I have been planning to build Trains for
several years (and accumulating the pieces to do this) I finally got going on
that project.  I have tried my hand at custom Metroliner cars, a Blue-Black
passenger train, numerous basic rolling stock, and various diesel locomotives
of my own designs.
I have been grinding the gears in my brain trying to figure out how to build a
modern diesel locomotive with a forward cab and rounded front like an F7 loco
and up pops the information about set 10020 Santa Fe Super Chief.  Since I was
no where near the level of excellence of this model, I will simply order a few
of this set and modify them to my own liking.  Building more of this model
will
not be too problematic for me parts-wise, but I just wish I could buy the
windscreen from the 10020 without buying multiple copies of the entire set.
But, hey, that is what BrickLink is for...

Building structures to accompany my Trains will be my next project and I hope
to create scenes that are worthy of being used at train shows.  I need to
research the use of Modules that are used by the other Lego Train clubs as we
will need this information if we ever attempt a train show ourselves.  If
anyone already has details or plans for layouts of any kind I would be
interested in hearing about them.

On the personal side, I went to Physical Therapy for the last time on February
15, 2002.  After 14 months of various in-patient and out-patient therapy I
have
finally graduated and am on my own.  Walking is still not very easy but with
time and continued exercise and weight training I should walk normally soon.
Everyone around me tells me I need to get back to work but J-O-B has fallen
from my list of priorities.  I have been enjoying my free time to build with
Lego so much that I don't care if I ever go back to work.  Too bad I am not
independently wealthy.  My income benefits will end sometime so I need to find
a way to get cash for more Lego somehow.

I hope everyone else is doing well and keeping their Lego spending under
control.  Hope to see you all when we meet again.

....If the house is on fire, the Lego goes out first!....

Dave A...if you email me your address I can send you some Lego parts I have
for
you.  Dunno if you are in the same location as last semester.
