Re: LARGEST LEGO LOT ON EBAY EVER!! (???)

(...) This could backfire on the seller, then, if the only reason for the auction is to get a value for insurance purposes. If people know there's no way they'll ever match the reserve, they won't bid on it. Since it's not honest to get a valuation (...) (...) I've been there too... I've never fully sorted all of 20000 pieces I took on. A lesson like that might teach you not to do it again, but, there's nothing quite like the first plunge, especially if it's sets from your dark ages.   Re: LARGEST LEGO LOT ON EBAY EVER!! (???)

(...) Interesting that you mention fire. I was talking with a fire-fighter friend of mine one night. I said something about all my Legos and that they were made from ABS. He kinda cringed and said that ABS had some nasty toxic properties when (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)

Re: LARGEST LEGO LOT ON EBAY EVER!! (???)

(...) For those who have such collections which they are looking to sell much of, one way to deal with it could be to occasionally invite folks over to browse the collection and make bids on things their interested in. If they discover something you (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)

Re: LARGEST LEGO LOT ON EBAY EVER!! (???)

(...) Somewhere in the "high 5 figures" is what he put in the auction notes. I'd guess, since he called the 'minimum value' 50 grand if he broke it up, that he's looking for 80 or 90 grand. Based on what his claims are about his collection, it might (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)

r2 wrote in message ... (...) Well forget it. He emailed me and told me the amount of money he was wanting, it is way high. I don't think it is worth my time to go look at the Lego and you guys would never raise enough money for this lot, given the (...)   Re: LARGEST LEGO LOT ON EBAY EVER!! (???)

(...) I'm not big on "me too" posts but I really have to say how much I agree with this one. I have bought 2 different large collections, and been part of a consortium on another. None of them are anywhere near completely put back together and I (...) (24 years ago, 6-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)

Re: LARGEST LEGO LOT ON EBAY EVER!! (???)

(...) I am slowly becomming convinced that it isn't worth trying to reconstruct sets unless you know a particular set is in a collection, and you really want to build it. I haven't decided yet what the best way to document a collection for insurance (...) (24 years ago, 6-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)

(...) I've been there too. I usually pick through the unsorted box and remove stickered and fragile elements, wash and dry the collection and then start doing a rough sort...then fine sort...and then start building the sets...I don't know of a more (...)
