How about:

1.  Cooper (Barrel Maker) !
2.  A stackade or some similar public humiliation penance
3.  Stonemasons Shop (people levelling/chiseling large stone blocks smooth ??)
4.  Some indeterminite Building under construction  (large brown support beams
could look really cool)
5.  I also like the idea of some small garrison/outpost tower, not very large,
somehwere on the town outskirts
6.  Some forested/mountainous area.  Eric K. is definitely the scenery guru, in my
mind.
7.  House o' Wenches
8.  Maybe we can also have a large outlying wall -  I have tons of the 3x1x5 gray
wall sections, and I'd love to make a large perimeter wall with towers and a
gatehouse/entrance.  Some idea of needed size would be required though.  Some
buildings could be inside the wall, and then the castle would be like an actual
keep!!   Fascinating ...

I've been putting together all of my medieval figures lately - I have about 150
troops, split mostly into two "teams", with some other small groups:

1.  "Bruises"  -  Blue Torso, Black Sleeves, Blue Waist, Black legs, Black helmets
(various) - this includes 10 or so Black Falcon Knights, many troops in old-style
armor (ala yellow castle, but without stickers), a wizard, ~10 black horses, etc.

2.  "Scarlet Fevers"  -  Red Torso, Blue Arms, Red Waist, Black Legs, Gray (both
Light and Dark) helmets (various styles) - these include dragon masters (three
different dragons on chest - small dragon head, large dragon head, and full dragon
body), crusaders (lion crest on chest, crossed axes on chest), king's troops (goofy
lion on chest), and old old troops (blue and gray shield on chest).  Lots of White
horses, too.

3.  Jesters  -  Two full fools - one with red/blue checker outfit as per Craig
Hamilton's design (http://community-1.webtv.net/anonymouseye/craigolego/) sans
painting job, and the other with stilts (two peg legs, lots of brown 1x1 rounds
...).  We can have a whole underground network of tragic-comic thieves (anyone else
ever read Tim Powers' "The Anubis Gates" ??)

4.  Woodsmen - about 10 or so brown- and black-clad leatherbound men, and their
brown horses.  Include one Viking (Imported into town, apparently), One Ranger (Hey
Dave, Panaka's torso is the perfect Aragorn outfit!!), A trusty-but-bald sidekick,
and several standard-fare woodsmen

5.  Peasants  -  not too many of these, to be honest.  My scenes tend to lean away
from pacifism, usually.  Blatant character flaw, I s'pose :)  Anyway, I'll see what
I can scrape up.  I'm guessing maybe 5 or 6.

6.  Walking Undead - a skeletal knight and his skeletal man-at-arms.  The first is
a full knight with "Black Knight" style helmet and visor, armor, dk. gray legs and
torso, black arms, white hands, skeletal head.  The second is wearing flat
yellow-castle armor, with everything else the same except for the helmet, which is
a 2000-style pikeman's helm.

7.  Bandits - a couple black-clad, bandana wearing, crossbow-wielding brigands to
hold up the travellers for tolls.

8.  Black Knight - Dark, mysterious, and if you lift up the visor, he's a she.  ooh
la la.

Of course, these can all be modified - I'm in no way insisting on these color
combinations.  Just giving people an idea as to what I can contribute immediately.
I don't know if we want some fantasy aspect (wizard, undead, etc), or straight
historical.  Lots of ideas to mull over.

All right, this is beginning to make my head swim.  I've written much, included
many side comments in parenthese, and perhaps this is all unintelligible.  In any
case, it's been fun :)

Ok, so far (although recently it looks like the conversation has died down)
we've seemed to agree that we'd probably at least like a castle and a town for
the NELUG castle display at the Construction Site (see prior messages for
history)..

To date, I think the only definite things we have to that respect are a
potential 6091 castle, lots of figs, and Eric's church, and his marketplace.
So, assuming we do a town (which it looks like we will), a brainstorm... what
other structures do we need for a town?

Here's a couple of ideas I had... feel free to add:
- Kinds of shops:
    o Scribe
    o Tavern/Inn
    o Clothing shop
    o Weaver (just plain cloth)
o Bakery (side note- my roomate found OLD Fabuland pieces that are loaves
of French Bread! So I might volunteer for this one... otherwise, I can
      supply the bread!)
    o Butcher
    o Barber?
    o Doctor
    o Carpenter
o Shoe store (Al Bundy's long lost relative)
- Houses (people have to live SOMEWHERE, contrary to what TLC would have you
  believe)
- A stable (probably for an Inn, but also could be a shop)
- A well
- Town meeting house
- Farm house stuff:
o barn or a shed (for tools, animals, etc)
    o fields
    o a house
- A school, perhaps?

We also still need to decide on the layout, too... but it seems like nobody has
a real preference at this point... Any further input?

It might be worthwhile posting some of the ideas here to lugnet.castle. I don't think it's wise to crosspost the whole discussion because it would get sidetracked, but there have been some great ideas flying about which I happen to be catching (...)
