Reminder: meeting on 01/20/07 in Fontana, CA

I just wanted to remind everybody that John is hosting the next LugoLA meeting on 01/20/07 at his house in Fontana, CA. For more information please check out the LugoLA Yahoo group ((URL) since we are trying to make it the main communications (...)   Re: NXT2RCX

At 12:22 PM 1/12/07, Rafe Donahue wrote: Nemo, (...) I think this is possible, and would work, at least as well as it did on the RCX. A simple conversion cable could be connected to both. I believe the wires that would be connected would act just (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Rock Crawling

(...) So, I'm wondering about the NXT's ability to command the RCX. How possible is the following: I know that I can hook up motors to my RCX sensor ports and vice versa. They might not work doing anything really practical but they can be hooked up. (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Rock Crawling

(...) 'cause I like building robots with brick-plate-plate-brick studded construction. And I like the ability to have 10 motors in 1 bot using 1 RCX. When John develops a multiplexor to sell for the NXT so I can have more than 1 motor connected to (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: GFLTC at GTE Tampa

(...) [...] (...) I moved to Massachusetts and I am enjoying my LEGO life as a member of NELUG. I've been wicked (in the eastern half of the state that means extremely) lucky lately. Being in NELUG has given me a chance to do things that I never (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.us.gflug)

  Re: GFLTC at GTE Tampa

(...) Thanks Mr. NoLTC... We are still working on the details; we hopefully will have the real Tampa street names on the signal lights soon. And yet more details in the works with items like planters, benches, newspaper boxes, bus stops, etc. BTW (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.us.gflug)

  Re: Rock Crawling

(...) Who needs an NXT??? I am using an RC buggy remote. Question: If you guys in RTL Toronto build robots as you said, then why on earth don't you have an NXT already? (Check with Calum...I hear he has an NXT that he isn't using) :) B (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

Nyyahhhh.. we build robots, not glorified RC cars... ;) Actually, after seeing pics and videos from you guys, I'm so totally floored by Rock Crawling! I'd make the trip if I had an NXT :) Dave (...)   Re: Rock Crawling

(...) Oh, I know it's fun - I was asking the community out there in general, not echoing my internal thoughts :-). (...) No problem - the "course" is to drive over Steve. We should be able to get all of rtlToronto to come down for this one ;-). (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: GFLTC at GTE Tampa

(...) Very cool Robin. I am amazed at all of the people who are going vertical. It seems like a great many sky scrapers are going up these days. I like the attention to detail that you put into the city, the raised sidewalks with storm drains, the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.us.gflug)

  Re: Rock Crawling at BrickWorld

(...) We've been talking about this. Rock Crawling offers a couple interesting challenges. The first is to build a Rock Crawling truck, and the second is drive it. The problem is that most of us will be doing a great deal of playing/testing before (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: "The" Course

(...) I agree. (...) Yes - do a higher is better scoring system...I, for one, will be less confused. We can then award bonus points for the design of the vehicle. 4WD, rear steering, and multiple types of suspension points (ie - 2 wheel suspension, (...)   "The" Course

I just had an idea about the Rock Crawling course. I was thinking about how we can make it hard for the good trucks, and possible for the not-so-good trucks. The answer is two courses. But not two separate courses, just two paths for each obstacle. (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Rock Crawling

(...) That's because you haven't built a rock crawler and experienced how much fun it is ;) I definitly think this should be an event. The biggest problem I see is finding/bringing things to make a course. John (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: third generation rock crawler

(...) My vehicle does use 4 RC buggy motors. I have a motor drive assembly for each *wheel*. The drive assembly is outside the suspension components so no linkage is required. The vehicle actually uses 2 RC buggy receiver units and steering units so (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Rock Crawling

(...) Brian Davis is the competition coordinator for Brickworld's Mindstorms events, so he is the right guy to work with if you have suggestions, desires, ideas, etc. Glad to hear someone is lurking about :) B (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Rock Crawling

(...) We're not sure, yet, if Rock Crawling will be on the menu for Brickworld. There will certainly be some robotics events, but we've not finalized a list as yet. Does Rock Crawling sound interesting? (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Rock Crawling

So . . . I've been lurking in your club's newsgroup lately and am wondering if this rock crawling challenge will be at BrickWorld for sure. Are there other robotics events planned? (19 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: third generation rock crawler

(...) At this point, there really aren't limits on LEGO parts. Bryan hasn't posted (publicly) about his robot, but I think he's using the controller from the RC buggy for his, along with four motors.   Re: third generation rock crawler

(...) I've now found that as long as I go to my junk mail folder, I can usually find the "authorize post" email.
