The type of meeting you describe falls under our "Public Events" and not
"Member Events". Such a public event would be advertised EVERYWHERE
possible to inspire growth and attention. However, the initial group of VLC
Members decided to have both types of events -- Member and Public. Member
events would be closed for the reasons previously described (unless or until
the majority of the members wish to eliminate Member Events)>
If someone in the VLC wishes to arrange Member Events and Public Events at
other venues -- that's great! We encourage this at every meeting. VLC is a
democracy. (personally, being disabled, starting a new business, and other
assorted demands I place on my own life has left me with little time to
devote to the administrative aspects of the VLC). I would absolutely love
assistance from other members.
As far as the meeting place, it is not ours. We approched the owners of the
space and asked if we might utilize it for our Lego Meetings. Their
governing body approved it with the conditions that it must be orderly and
that one of us must remain and 'look after' the place at all times. Hence
Dean's #1 comment. If members wish to have it elsewhere it's agreed to like
everything else.
What did you have in mind insofar as helping out?

| Dean and Alexandria, Thanks for your polite responses to my commentary on this issue. I realize that my tone may have easily incited some degree of wrath (and it has, in fact, from one person so far... I'm sure more will follow). Most of the clubs (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
