I found some excellent resources for the Hogwart's Express train, including a page dedicated to the actual train used in the movie! My first impression is that it can be done quite nicely. Kevin, I came across this page, which has a very pretty little train (especially the face) that could easily be adapted for Thomas. It's still 6 wide, and quite recognizable as a face (I think).
