How about taking the principle of a
standard two dimensional maze (the type with 90 degree corridors) but doing
it in three dimensions. It would have to be made of perspex so you could see
the robot as it got closer too the core.

The problem is that everyone needs to build one at home, and perspex/lucite
etc is expensive in large sheets


it would be no different if we just went with a 4' clear PVC 3D maze.
but for the same reasons its not going to be doable.

that's what the discussions about 3D pipe racers is about.
