I'll like to point out that as an overall structure what this guy did is
a bit more complex a lego robot pipe racer maze than I'd do for one of
our events, BUT It perfectly shows the idea of a 3D maze.

this in conjunction with label's at each joint pointing the way to the
end of the maze, would make a fun little game for us.

You know what I think would be cool. How about taking the principle of a
standard two dimensional maze (the type with 90 degree corridors) but doing
it in three dimensions. It would have to be made of perspex so you could see
the robot as it got closer too the core.

The problem is that everyone needs to build one at home, and perspex/lucite
etc is expensive in large sheets (ie, if you had 12" robots, you'd need a 4'
by 4' cube to be interesting, and that would be expensive).  I suppose you
could build one out of MDF at home, but the full one for the actual event
would be expensive.

I'd actually think a 3D maze like that would be kind of fun to watch,
actually.  Sort of like rtl13, you'd have to lift yourself up on a platform,
but also lower yourself down.  Like Qbert or something.
