Here they are so far:

I kind of like the "dig crap out of the box in the middle" game. Getting a
robot to navigate back to home base is something I've never done. I've also
never made a construction vehicle :) Iain can build the truncated pyramid
for us.

-Pipe Racers:

Yes, but no. I think we've done enough battery box events. If we can somehow
make this 'robotic' I think it would be much more appealing. One of my ideas
was to simulate real pipeline robots that scan for flaws in the pipe by
having the robots check for stickers or something on the pipe. I'm not sure
exactly how this would be incorporated into the competition. Maybe there
would be a random # of stickers placed on the pipe, and the robot has to
count them and also remember their location. After running, you could upload
the datalog from the robot and see how many flaws were detected, and how
accurate the distances are. Maybe this wouldn't be terribly exciting to
watch, but at least somewhat realistic.

-String Racers.  Get to the opposite end of a long string (1/4" nylon cord)
with another robot going down in the opposite direction.  For extra
amusement, tie two strings in a cross shape and either run two robots, four
robots, or make them take a 90 deg turn.

Maybe string racers that have to lower a bucket to pick up ping pong balls
at one end and deposit them on the other end?

-rtlToronto/mini1: This one we can run as a dinner event or perhaps just as
a spur of the moment thing like the RC car derby:  Build a vehicle that can
transport one minifigure as far as possible, using the Capacitor as a power
source.

But I don't have any minifigs :)

I'm probably going to sit outthe pipe racers, but may get somehting for the
string racers--

But I was inspired by the old MIT 'bot shows where they would compete to
gather the most ping-pong balls...

I think that a container that had ramps or other ways up with lotsa ping
pong balls inside would be fun to retrieve...
