Rob,
Great job with the new drive! I like mounting the motor right on the wheel
itself.
Pregnata that I brought to the ir Hockey game wasn't really a synchro base.
It was a four wheel base, the rear two wheels were able to turn between two
positions only about a vertical axis above the wheel centre - straight
ahead, inline with the front two (Static) wheels, and then a position that
would rotate them out, with respect to the chassi, so that their axis of
rotation would all pass through a common point (directly between the centre
of the front wheels). Then, the left side and right sides could be driven
in such a way to have the robot rotate in-place around that point. It was a
principle I learned about from both Jennifer Clark, and also the person who
runs the "LEGO on my Mind" website (but I can not remember who that is).
