Oh, you want to talk network problems eh? We (the Interactive Media Lab,
home of Peach and other such things) moved into the brand new, $104 million
Bahen Center for IT at the University last month. Since then, while all of
our MIE powered networks have been reliable and nice, our other labs are in
some random network that belongs to another department. This of course, we
only found out after plugging in and figuring out where we'd leased an IP from.
Apparently no one bothered to put routers on the floor one of our labs is
in, so we're on someone else's network on DHCP only-all our static IPs don't
work there. At least they're routing our protocols-for now. This also
means I have to get grad students to adjust their LMHOSTS.
