 Proposal for Altenburg station

Hi folks,

I'm getting tempted to build a 2-level 4-track 4-platfrom station in
Altenburg.  My goal is to keep the station itself kind of smallish and
meek, like Reading if it only had 2 tracks instead of 14 or whatever.

Here are some thoughts:

I'd redo the roads in Altenburg west like this:

The hole would let me go "through" the ground level of the elevated part
of town.

From the side, the station would look like this:

I could (but might not) sink the ground level of the station around 2
bricks lower than Altenburg proper;  this might yield an interesting
visual effect.  I dunno.

The underground part of the station would be visible from the "peek-in"
that Derek suggested for the outer loop.  I'd have to do a little bit of
fancy footwork to miss the between-loop crossover at my end of
Altenburg, but it looks like it's possible.  Finally, depending on just
how tight tolerances are, I cut the corner very slightly at the top of
the outer and inner loop track clearances.  I hope no one minds too
much.

I like this station idea, I think it would be really cool. If you want more space to clear the switchs, the east cross over can be moved three track lengths further into my space. I don't mind if we do this, because I have nothing planed for the (...) (22 years ago, 8-Sep-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
