NO. if you build a house, it needs  stairs.  you have doors to walk into
the house, you have windows to see out of the house.    By some
examples,   if you subscribe to the HOG theory (Hand of God) then why
even have doors or windows. just make a bunch of  3 sided walls and call
it a  house.

Every group has its "realist" I guess.  Personally, I have doors and windows
for looks....I use the "3 sided building approach" because
a) that is the way Lego designed it...(see reason b)
b) easy to put mini-figs in and out of the buildings for increased play

As far as stairs go, I don't have any stairs in any of my buildings
none, zero, zilch.  I do have a couple of sets with ladders (the brown
ones - I think Imperial Outpost is one, Pirate Perilous Pitfall is another
(I don't think I have any in the Town Line.)

(...) Actually. its because I am a real life special effects tech. during the day I am a mild mannered explosive technician.
