So...
Ive spent about half an hour every night this past week building octagons.
I hate Lego geometry with a passion now. :)
I was wondering who else was building for this contest? I know Chris is
obviously gung ho about it...but anyone else up for some block transferring
fun?

WOW dave, it would seem we are following the same paths.
So, I, like you, have opted for a A/B skid steed bot, but wanted to
jazz it up so I built my first ever Adder Subtracter.
Let me tell you, ADD/SUBs are a strange beast. It took a while to
get it but once i saw it working, it does track a straight line.

K this is just creepy....
I wanted to try something other than a straight A/B skid-steer and also put
together a adder/subtracter drive platform Ive been using for testing light
sensor positioning, etc.
This was before I added more framework...I just stuck a couple of mini casters
while I was testing the speed...Think I still need to gear down my turn motor as
it spins a bit quick...
