well, dinner was a real fun time.
there were robots, and lively conversation, and comments, and smack, and...
oh ya, food. the waitress was a real sullen hottie as well.
We have decided on a game.
-----------------the game--------
Titled: The Mating Game R-20
Build a robot to fit in the usual 12" cubed size rule.
Robots will be playing on the 8'x 8' play field.
At some point soon, Dave and the group will agree on a standard for
accepting standard 2x4 bricks. (we have to finalize ~IF~ we will plate
and tile the bricks to make them more manageable)
Much like my idea for the GBC, we will need to agree on a standard
hight, and ???? for accepting the bricks. (we need a good clean name
for these bricks)
you robot will be allowed to carry up to 10 (TEN) 2x4 bricks of your
colour. (I already called BLACK)
Your robot must be able to ACCEPT brick from another robot, you do not
HAVE to give/push/fire/launch/eject your bricks if you do not want.
points will be awarded thus:
For every group of bricks of a colour IN your robot, you will get 1
point. (this prevents a robot from dumping all 10 bricks into the first
wiling bot)
For every group of bricks of YOUR colour in another robot will get you
one point.
so if you have 1 red brick, and one green brick in your bot thats 2
points. if you have 2 red, and 4 green, thats STILL 2 points.
you can have as many receptacles, AND brick brick shooters (we need a
good word for this) as you can cram into the 12" size rule.
On the day of the game, we will run as many robots as we feel we can get
on to the play area at once.
if we have SO MANY robots that they dont all fit at once, we will have
multiple games.
i foresee scoring this game to be less "structured" due to the
complexity of the style, but this even allows us to bring back the
dreaded play field, AND build a mobile robot.
if you can see any GLARING loop holes offer them now.
The library will be booked for Sat Feb 11, 2006. at the oak wood library.
ONE BONUS point will be awarded to ONE robot, that is the best "dressed"
as decided by the audience.
so to summarize, the object is to build an autonomous robot, that can go
forth, and accept other 'bots colour bricks, AND get as many of YOUR
coloured bricks INTO other bots.
Chris.
let the fun posts begin.

| (...) This should be a nice game to help get more beginners into the group. Instead of a 2x4 brick, could people use 3 2x4 plates? That will greatly expand the number of possible colors. Have fun. Steve (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| (...) How will the robots be able to find each other? Are we gona use light sensors or lights to show where the "hopper" is? I call YELLOW. Can we use different tiles because I dont think that I have enough tiles of any colour? (Unless someone can (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| (...) hhmmmmm. Call me dense but I don't get it. Is there some sort of communication (IR) that the bots need to use? Or is this supposed to be a mechanical type affair? I would assume that two bots would have to "come together" somehow but can't (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
