Good grief: I thought I had a lot of minifigs. On a good day with a
following wind I might be able to scare up 120 or so ninja/samurai and
another 150 assorted castle/pirate/peasant-like troops, including about
40 or so cavalry.

how big my table is if we play at my place.
I've noticed that the BW rules were kinda borken for fantasy when I was
looking at it a year ago.
Oh - I'd also love to put together a game of Steve Jackson's Pirate Game
http://www.io.com/~sj/PirateGame.html - which is a lot of fun and much
less rules-intensive than BrikWars (for those who aren't into wargames).
