Re: My first fully functioning GBC...

(...) Well, I also know of a place where we can find a somewhat smaller playfield that is already painted and (mostly) perfectly flat. ;) I'd rather have the big one, though. Fron what I saw, it was a little more than the edges, but I'll make a (...) (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: My first fully functioning GBC...

(...) Thoughts: -rtl20. Go to a "virtualised" playfeild. As far as I know, we use the big plywood playfeilds to give us walls, right? So we can use touch sensors. Since everyone (?) has two light sensors, what about doing a trial run sometime where (...) (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: My first fully functioning GBC...

(...) Why do you use a fixed field? For playing with kids, I used 4 6' long 1x4's with swing hasps (you know, the latches that close with a pin or padlock) at the ends to form an enclosure by pinning the four ends together in a square. Then use (...) (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Right, that's about what we have, 4 8 foot long 1x8's, and two 4x8's. We can disassemble it etc, so it's not fixed. But as to why ply versus other materials, it's what we started with and what was easily available at the time. Calum (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: My first fully functioning GBC...

(...) I had that concept once--a friend works in the greenhouse shading system business, and can get yards of very high quality shading that can easily double as a arena floor, with a proper border. The issues are-- need to be on a relatively smooth (...) (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Then what's this stuff about plastex panalling (sic) ? is it like a cloth? Calum (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: My first fully functioning GBC...

(...) The material that I'm thinking of is rather stiff, but still rolls up (not folds). Small irregularities aren't a big problem (besides, how flat is the wood in the first place? Even before water damage). Look at: (URL) the plas-tex paneling, (...) (19 years ago, 17-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
