  Re: rtlToronto15 January issues

(...) I like it. The original thought was that before each joint there would be 1 strip or 2 1 strip means 'go left' (as left as left can be in a 3 d grid), or 2 stripes means go right (again, same). As pointed out, however, which way's left or (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) I blame the ascii art. :) this is the problem I see. (more ascii art) 1 2 ---...--- I red I I I 3 OK, put a robot at the base of the T. (number 3) as it drives up the pipe, it reads the RED tape. so it should turn left to the # 2. so far easy. (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Backing you up, JohnG Go Trains!! Dave K -the preceeding announcement satisfied many criteria--score 1 point for Magno-Ball, showed my unfailing interest in trains, stayed 'on-topic' (at least, as on-topic for rtlToronto as one can be), and (...) (...) Hey, INS was getting possessive, and didn't want to let me leave the country. Now that that's fixed, maybe we'll visit for the next event :) (...) Maybe I'm dense. Actually, forget the maybe - but here's what I'm thinking of (bad ascii art (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) That's why the rest of the world just sits back and *watches*, while the genius Lego builders (& programmers!) of RTL Toronto come up with amazing solutions to problems the rest of us would be scared to even attempt... Me? I'll stick to (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Dan, at the last dinner (which you missed) :) derek pointed out that any marking is pointless cause you don't know from which angle the robot is reading the mark. at a simple "T" a read stripe means turn left.... BUT if the robot reads that (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: rtlToronto15 January issues

(...) Calum, lets just leave it at a "maze" and mark a correct path. with all the T's and Y's they could very well lead to a finish, but we have one "proper way" lets not encourage the multi-path. if a multi path works out in the building of the (...) (...) Forgot the smiley. :) (...) I think the joints are going to be very hard. The only thing I could think of doing, was have the robot somehow open on one side... and have all the drive wheels rotatable so that you could either a) drive your (...) (...) I *think* that's Iain's way of saying "the different path requirement is not really a good idea" but I'm not sure. :-) I'm still wondering about the joint question... didn't most of the bots at BF have rigid guidewheels that would be (...)
