Steve,
I need to know what you want me to bring to Edmonton for the Calgary show.
So far I will bring the
1.  Plastic tablecloths for skirting, but not the stappler or pliers.
2.  Two transformers, with wall adapters, to be speed limited with the
"screw" technique, for the play area.  Kevin, do you remember how the PNLTC
guys did this?
3.  The rope and posts/round plates we had for barriers at GETS2000.
4.  All my track, including the two or three loops for the play area.
5.  The two 12V level crossings, the monorail and its structures, the shell of
the elevator, all the sets for the petroleum transfer station and the
intermodal station.  Does John still have the innards for the elevator?  Should
we use some of the GETS money to buy a set of conveyor belts and superglue
mailboxes to the "club" pieces of conveyor to ensure smooth operation?
6.  Two hundred dollars from GETS200 for spending money for the group.  Should
we start a bank account?
7.  A few variations on the layout plan for Edmonton in the fall.
8.  A copy of the leaflet we handed out at GETS 200.  Should we use some of the
money to get some printed up in color?
9.  All my grey road plates
10. Power bar, extension cord, two or three transformers for the layout,(Do you
plan two or three loops) all my power and track connector cables.
11 Leftover green paint.

We/you still need to decide on the following:
1.  Do I bring all my tables to Edmonton, or just the one with a hole to be
used as a base for the mountain, or are they not at all compatible with the
tables you will be renting in Calgary.  I need to know fairly early, so that I
can work on the legs.
2.  Play area planning, 2 or 3 loops of track?  I can donate the loops of track
and 2 transformers, and The Lego Group is supplying plain bricks, but we need
motors, boggies, magnets and baseplates.  How do we supply these?  As well as
the plastic gutter (eavesthrough) to go around the table to catch the pieces.
It would be nice if whatever we use in Calgary would also be compatible with
our other tables, so we could use them in Edmonton.  I was wondering about
using a hollow core 30 inches wide by 6 foot 8 inch plain door, with extra
backing on one side, and a simple set of folding legs, a bit lower than our
current tables, with eavesthrouh on 3 or 4 sides.  Preferably with the top
painted.  Also paid for with the GETS pool.
3. Enough barriers to go around the display.  I threw away most of my blue
pails.  We need to figure out how many we need, and have members donate the
pails, then create the rope holders with concrete and 1 1/2 PVC as previously
described.  That could perhaps be a project for January 13th if James garage is
heated?  Otherwise, my parents garage is heated.
4.  Which of the rest of my trains do you want me to bring.  Do you want me to
bring monorail track.
5.  With the tables all at the same level, do you want the port sets?
That is all I can think of for now.
Michel

(...) Given the size and weight and hassle of the tables, my plan was to follow the KISS rule and just use rented tables from Calgary. An extension of that is that your grain tower would be a static model only. Plastic tablecloths - if you can pick (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug)

(...) Is that a yes? :-) (That small a transformer shouldn't "hum") (...) Good advice - I will make sure to use the best method, keeping in mind that safety (for the short LEGOmaniacs) is the most important factor. SRC (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug)
