Here's an update, keeping in mind everyone's comments.  It has both
loops straight through switches, the "main yard" is moved inside to be
easy to reach, the monorail is only from one side to the other, leaving
the main table area free, and doesn't even cross over any tracks.
The mountain is cut down to a managable size? with two train tunnels
and the only monorail level change hidden inside, so viewers will not
know how it got up/down so much in so short a distance. ;-)

It uses 7 large and 7 small, but I can easily make a lesser version
(not as nice of course) that uses only 6 of each if James has any
doubts about making the extra tables.

Cool.  Sounds like everyone is more-or-less happy with this layout, so
it seems like a good base to work off.  Could you upload the .tdl when
you get a chance?  Michel isn't the only one who wants to play with it. :)

Everybody wants to move the station.  :-)  I understand what Chris meant,
but Michel - I don't see how there's room for what you've described.
I made a "scary" http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=18803
Oct31 revision for those who complain that there's never enough room
in the switching yard...  I put the Oct30 file in my design folder
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=1523  so you guys can
move the station where-ever you feel like.  James - you can't play
with it until you promise to make the extra set of tables...   8-)

(...) Can you fit more sidings in somehow? Then Michel will have room for all of his rolling stock. <ducks behind cover!> (24 years ago, 1-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug)

(...) <snip> (...) I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be able to do a set of tables (1 large, 1 small). Even if I can't, we'll have plenty of warning to change the layout. (...) I moved the station. :) And changed the monorail loop a bit. I also (...) (24 years ago, 1-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug)
