Or you could put the number of members in your LUG/LTC under your logo on
the tile.

Not a bad idea but...

Of course since most LUGs are regional, they need not be placed right
where all the members place their dots.

MichLUG for example will have members dotted all over the state, not just
underneath the tile's area...

That's sort of what I was hoping to see with this.  I want dots scattered
all over the map.

I am wondering if there is merit in using color coding on the tile and the
1x1 dots??? for example MichLUG's tile could be blue and so could all member
1x1s... BLOC could be, oh, I dunno, brown :-), and NILTC could be white and
so on... it is OK to have duplicate colors as long you're far enough away
that there would be no member confusion.

But this may be overengineering.

That could work, but I do want to avoid it getting TOO complicated.  I don't
know if color coding is really necessary, as most lugs are pretty well
segregated by geography already.  Maybe a dot key, similar to the way that
David Till handled it.  Say, trans green is 1 person, tan is 5, grey is 10,
black is 20, etc.  Plant a lug tile in the center, geographically, on each
region, and scatter the people dots in their geographic locations, changing
color as necessary.

On another question, what would it take to get this to BricksWest?

Adrian, does it require you in person, or is it shippable if some means of
covering shipping cost were found? From the pic of the stacked sections it
looks like it fits into a relatively small volume for shipment (but
presumably quite heavy)...

If packed suitably enough, I should be able to ship it via UPS or something
without my presence.  It packs tightly, but is very dense.  I really have no
idea what the cost will be.  The other option would be building a custom
case for it and taking it on the airplane with me, but many airlines are
enacting weight restrictions, and in a case I know this thing will push 100
pounds.

I'm up for help in paying for the shipping cost if I can figure out a good
way to handle packaging.

I'd put 5 bucks in towards a pool to pay for shipping, and I bet others
would too. However you may well not want to be separated from it, Adrian,
which is very understandable.

Any chance for a shuttle? Maybe it could be handed off to a cleveland area
person who's going, or who's coming to a show where someone else who's going
is??

It would be, well, annoying if the individual plates come rattling apart.
That would be my only worry about shipment.  Ideally, I'd like it driven in
the hands of someone capable, but it's a 2400 mile drive from Ohio to CA,
and I doubt anyone from this coast is driving.  If so, I'd be more than
willing to hand it off to a courier.  Heck, then I could send another
sculpture or two along with them, since I'm on the sculpture panel this year.

Adrian
