My only nits about this are:
- Storage of pieces outside someone's home could get pretty expensive. Where
could the needed square footage be obtained cheaply? Hmmm... Perhaps in a
dedicated long-term storage unit?
- Storage of pieces inside someone's home could get pretty intensive. Guests
showing up at weird times (here's my OCD :-), other family members making off
with parts of the collection, etc.
- Members of far-reaching LUGs like GMLUG and [insert Utah's LUG here] would
alienate distant members.
I like the idea, but I think it would only work on smaller-scale groups,
perhaps on the scale of a Boy Scout troop; i.e. lotsa paying members within a
short driving distance.
Cheers,
