We should get the last word from Mr. Kingsley who has been so generous as to handle this matter on behalf of lugnuts far and wide -- but it is my understanding that he will accept money through today, Monday, and post totals tomorrow. With all the Brisbanites/Bundaburgers posting, maybe you should think about holding a LegOz ? Someone should take the initiative. If you build it...they will come. pete.w <aquanaut@optusnet.com.au> (26 years ago, 10-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: Age limitations - re liability

(...) They're a big organization with offices, membership dues, a board of directors, etc -- and as you say, they carry insurance. There's no comparision. (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: Age limitations - re liability

(...) Some thoughts... At least in the US, waivers actually are worth very little. Probably the only place they really do any good is permission slips for public school activities. Of course here, the government is already relatively immune to (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: Age limitations - meetings in bars

I guess this is somewhat at a tangent from teh rest of the thread, but I am very glad personally that the VLC doesn't meet in a bar, or even adjourn to a bar after meetings. As a non-drinker and non-smoker, I hate having to be in bars. Besides, the (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

Re: Age limitations - re liability

I am puzzled by the liability problems referenced in this thread. Someone mentioned, as a comparison, the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism), and I'd just like to draw that parallel in a little more detail: The SCA holds large events for in (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

  Re: Age limitations

I had an idea which might work for some groups (perhaps not NELUG) which would allow a group to have an age limitation in the 18-21 range but still allow younger AFOLs to attend meetings. That is, to set the age limit for *membership*, but to allow (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

  Re: Age limitations

(...) I perhaps should have gone into more depth on my thoughts. My thinking is that with trains as a catalyst for forming the group, the demographics may have been different. I can't enumerate the factors that lead me to this thought because it is (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org)

  Re: Age limitations

FUT lugnet.org (...) Well I don't know about the other "True" LUGs but I don't think being a LUG as opposed to an LTC had anything to do with it. I think it mostly came down to the demographics of our group at the begining. Like Todd pointed out I (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.org.us, lugnet.org.us.nclug, lugnet.org)
