I like Toshiba stuff when it comes to DVDs.
I'd check out www.audioreview.com if I were you - they usually have
multiple reviews for lots of systems I'm looking at.
Speaking of Toshiba, I just bought a SD6109C for $293! Got it from
www.accompany.com - a place that brings the price down as more
people agree to buy an item. Suggested retail on this is $799 -
looks like average online prices range in the $400-$500 range.
A quick look at the two you're considering shows the Toshiba as
having a 4.24/5 rating with 204 reviews (and 4.33 with 52 reviews -
the only bad thing about AR - things get listed more than once with
different spellings), and the Sony ... if you mean the DVP-S530D it
has 164 reviews and an avg of 4.03/5.
I haven't tried either one, so I'd suggest reading a lot of the
reviews - some are quite thoughtful and detailed, some are mostly
fluff.
